Staying Alive

Find Yourself at the Edge

Kick off or wrap up your conference, lunch or team-building workshop and be inspired to reach new heights and tackle life’s challenges.

You’ll get a remarkable first-person perspective (the highs and the lows) of what it's like to climb to the summit of Mount Everest, as well as an understanding of what it takes to commit to and reach a goal that was more than 10 years in the making. It includes stunning visuals captured from the highest points of the earth.

You will:

  • realise the resilience and discipline required to achieve a life-long goal
  • be emotionally moved and truly inspired
  • feel as if you too have just climbed Mount Everest.

Safety and Risk Management at the Edge

Q: How is climbing a mountain relevant to working at a gas plant or mine site?

A: The goal is to make it home safely at the end of each day.

Any mountain is a remote and harsh environment, with dangers lurking around every corner. Climbers live in one another's pockets over the course of a month-long expedition, enduring potentially life-threatening conditions on a daily basis, before flying home again and returning to 'normal' everyday life. Sound familiar?

As a high-altitude mountaineer and expedition leader I am responsible for the lives of my team members – just like you are. I present safety in a positive and entertaining way for a conference, safety expo or stop-work meeting.

You will:

  • learn six key elements that will create and maintain a safety-first culture, and keep your team engaged over the long term
  • gain the importance of discipline versus the risk of complacency for teams working in dangerous environments
  • leave feeling positive – safety presentations are not all doom and gloom or traumatic stories.

Learn to Lead Outside of your Comfort Zone

This presentation can also be developed into a one- or two-day workshop . This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

In a business world where technology, politics and our social relationships are rapidly changing, the success of any leader relies on their ability to embrace uncertainty and fear. Team members must work efficiently together to achieve results in this challenging, and often scary, environment.

Drawing on my experiences leading teams in the unpredictable environment of the Himalayas, we’ll look at how you adapt to change and lead teams when you are pushed to the edge, when there’s no room for mistakes.

You will:

  • learn why clear communication is the most important tool of any leader in a changing environment
  • understand the importance of past failures and learn how to use these experiences to grow sustainably
  • be inspired to take your team out of its comfort zone to achieve extraordinary outcomes.
